New to this.....my husband said I may have gout??

Post a new topicby jeffrobin on Fri May 16, 2008 12:00 pm

I am 38 years old and my one big toe has been bothering me off and on for about a year. There is no redness, just jabs of pain and a small lump that I feel from inside. At times my shoe feels tighter on the side of this painful toe. It's not all the time, though. I'm new to all this. I've read some and at times I do eat red meat, rich foods etc. but do not drink alcohol. I guess I just need to go to the Dr and find out for sure, but thought I'd try your group first. Thank you for any info you can give. Have a good day!!

You may have the start of a bunion that can be painful, and your shoes would
cause it to hurt. If it were Gout, the pain is quite bad and doesn't let up until
I take an anti-inflammatory. I would go to the Doctor, a blood test will tell if
you have Gout. I hope it is a bunion I wouldn't wish gout on my worst enemy.

P.S. Everybody assumes the person who has Gout drinks alcohol, wrong! My
specialist said, women usually get gout if they have been taking diuretics, for
fluid retention.

I wish you all the best from Ireland, From: Green eyes!
